On a bright sunny day what else could we do but go outside, have fun and enjoy the sunshine? We brought out some chalk and munchkin went to coloring on the floor. He was making Easter eggs with me and I was making some Easter baskets with eggs inside! He helped me color some in and even drew a couple on his own. He even tried making a bunny!

It was a fun time and I think during our Easter BBQ we are going to put out a big tub of chalk for the kiddos to make there own Easter fun on the driveway. Its also a good learning opportunity on shapes. Eggs are ovals not circles and munchkin is great with his circle but still has trouble making an oval. I have to remind him egg... It looks like an egg. But once you remind him he does a pretty good job. I think it will be great for them on Easter and also a great decoration for us to have on our driveway. We will be sure to take pictures of them next to it as a keepsake. Hope you try it it out. Even if not on Easter, maybe before so that it helps with your Easter decorating outside!

This past week we were invited to The San Antonio Museum of Art for Arte Kids Book launch and had a blast! The museum had this special event to celebrate there New books that showcase art pieces from the museum. They are beautiful books that are not only kid friendly but also bilingual! I love how they integrate art and shapes and colors in a format that appeals to kids. At the event they had activities that were inspired from pages of the books. Here are the fun activities we did with our kiddos:

Sun, Metepec, Mexico
We then had a Reading of the Books
Then a Museum tour that led us to the actual works of Art that are in the books
We had lots of fun with the activities and tour. We even had yummy treats that resembled pictures from the books thanks to Lily's Cookies. They are Beautiful!
The whole event was lots of fun for the kids and a treat for the parents. I am looking forward to visiting the museum more often now that starting in January they are going to have new kid centered activities (more details to come).
Don't forget that The San Antonio Museum of Art is Free for all ages on Tuesdays from 4 to 9 pm. So take advantage and stop on by with your kids and enjoy some art. Be sure to pick up copies of the new Kids books for the children in your lives. They will make great Christmas gifts for your little artist!
This week we have been working on the Letter H and yesterday was such a beautiful day that we couldn't spend it indoors. So out we went outside and brought out the chalk and started having fun!
I asked my munchkin to help me decorate the driveway with letters! It was a good chance to practice his letter writing skills with a fun object like chalk so off he went making various letters and they looked awesome!
In the meantime I was also making letters everywhere and asking him to identify them for me or helping him out with his letter writing. It ended up becoming a collage of our letters mixed together.
I then started making shapes and he did too and we were identifying them all on the floor by letters, colors and shapes now.
And yes as you can tell that led to making holiday designs. I made a snowman and my sister made a turkey and then her own snowman. Munchkin had so much fun coloring and drawing and making letters while being outside under the sun with a nice breeze.
