Fiesta Texas San Antonio fun

This summer I was lucky enough to win tickets to Six Flags Fiesta Texas thanks to the lovely Christina Coker from Champagne Taste on A Beer Budget. Unfortunately we didn't get to use them until September! But that didnt stop us from having fun. We actually hadn't been to Fiesta Texas in about 5 years so a lot of the areas were new to us and just right for my kiddo!

Here are some photos from our fun day at Fiesta Texas and in case you are wondering whats with all the monsters well it was the weekend before they started the Halloween celebration so a lot of decorations were already out.
It was a bunch of fun and my kiddo got on a ton of rides! It was a great way to spend some time out together and relax while doing something new. I would definitely check it out if you have roller coaster lovers in your family!

Have you ever been to Fiesta Texas San Antonio?

Visiting the San Antonio Botanical Garden (Broadway Reach)

This weekend during Munchkins Birthday weekend Palooza we went for the first time to the San Antonio Botanical garden and It was amazing! Pictures don't give it justice of how Beautiful it is there. We got to go in for free this weekend because of Broadway Reach.

It was a group of 7 locations that as long as you had membership to one of the 7 on this weekend you could go check out the others for free and see if maybe you wanted to become a member offered at a discounted rate.

Here are a few pictures from our visit:

And even though the dinosaurs are plenty of fun to experience there are some fun Halloween kid themed touches that provide plenty of fun photo opportunities as well!

We made it our mission to find all the dinosaurs on the list of the map. And I am glad to say we found them all! We had fun doing it and took too many pictures which sounds impossible but I checked the camera and it was over 100 pictures! (dinosaurs alone, scenery's, dinosaur pictures with munchkin...)
I am so grateful for this opportunity to visit a new site where I had never been for free and enjoy it so much with my family. It was a good and nice walk (over 2 hours walking looking around) that seemed to go by pretty fast actually. We loved it there and want to go back soon.

Have you guys been to the Botanical Garden to see the dinosaurs? Or what other event have you gone to see there? Did you got to any of the other locations for Broadway Reach?

Chalk It Up 2012

Saturday morning we went to Artpace's Chalk It up! It was our first year going and we didn't know what to expect. We got there bright and early about 5 minutes before 10 am and there were already people there!

What is Chalk It Up? Chalk It Up is a Free event that happens on downtown Houston street where they block the street off so people can create art works all over the street and sidewalks in chalk. There are huge tubs of chalk everywhere so you can just grab a bunch of colors and create something all your own. There are many artists who have there own areas and even schools who create artpieces too.

We were so excited when we stepped onto Houston street and were greeted by friendly people providing maps of the artists sections and activities, tattoos that are incredible (clock that reads ART, symbolic of now is the time to create art) and stickers. There were food and drink booths and even live music.

We watched as people sketched outlines and created there art. It was beautiful to see the many different methods people used chalk. Some used it just as it is, others as a paint, others as letter molds and everyone brought there own perspective with them. I loved it and so did munchkin! Here are some of our favorite art pieces we saw:

We walked up and down the street many times watching art pieces progress, we also went to the kids zone in front of The San Antonio Childrens Museum and did some kids art activities too.

I then went to find a small empty spot on the street (which got harder to do as the day went by) to leave my mark on.

Munchkin even got some art done too while laying on the street (his clothes were covered in chalk dust as we left for home)

We had such a great time looking at all the art around us being made and making some of our own. I'm glad that we can go to events like this that are so enriching to children. It was my first time at Chalk It Up but it will definitely not be our last.

Have you ever gone to Chalk It Up? Or did you go to this years too? What were your favorite art pieces?
