Ford Caroling Nights with Santa

Friday night we went downtown to hang out on the Riverwalk with Santa. I heard about Ford's Caroling nights with Santa and knew we had to go. They had live entertainment, caroling and Free pictures with Santa. Santa and Mrs. Claus were set up right on a barge on the Riverwalk at Arneson River Theatre. It was a beautiful location to be at and of course with all the Christmas lights twinkling it made it so much better! We got even luckier because we happened to be downtown during the Festival de las Luminarias. The festival de las Luminarias has the Riverwalk walkways lined with sand filled bags with glowing candles to symbolize the Lighting of the way for the Holy Family. Its beautiful!
Before Santa came over

Santa is here and ready!
Munchkin loves to see Santa! He went twice actually to sit on his lap.

We then walked over to The Alamo to see the H-E-B Christmas Tree. It was beautiful of course! It was getting late so we called it a night and went home happily with great memories. I love How San Antonio has free events like Santa on the Riverwalk and the Luminarias. It gives it me such joy to live in this Beautiful city.
Have you guys been downtown to check out the lights and the tree?

In case you want to check them out the Fiesta de las Luminarias is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 16.

Dinosaur Day at The Central Library

Friday morning we woke up bright and early to go to Dinosaur Day at The Central Library (A Free Event). We walked along the San Antonio Riverwalk to catch a trolley to the Library. We could see all the lights hanging from the trees and cant wait for them to be all turned on during the Christmas season.
We got to the library and I love the renovations they did with the grassy area and the nice outdoor reading nook(that's what I would use it for on a nice day).

On the children's floor everything was dinosaur from the signs on the walls to the books on top of the shelves. It was fun to discover what was behind every turn.

Yes I did dress my munchkin in dinosaur apparel. Isn't he adorable?
They started off the class with a song and then a game of dinosaur behind the door(like ants in the pants). Then We read a book about dinosaurs. We then went on to do centers all with dinosaur themes. Here's a glimpse of the activities:
Dinosaur Crafts

Dinosaur books and magnets
Playdough to make dinosaur prints in
Hugging the dinosaur inflatable(there was inflatable Dinos and stuffed ones)
Different dinosaur footprints
Sensory tubs that consisted of Dino's, bird seed, rice, beans, flowers and extras

Take Home information and cut outs
It was a great experience and fun for the kids. There were more activities like pattern matching and blocks and magnets. My munchkin really enjoyed it and so did the other kids. They got to play and learn about dinosaurs and I cant wait for another event like this. If you want to see what other activities and events are happening at the library go to www.mysapl.org and check it out!

If you have munchkins super interested in dinosaurs then you need to check out The Botanical Garden where right now they are having Dinosaur Stampede and with your library card you get a discount on admission. You can check out our Visit to the Botanical Garden here.
