Influenster Sugar 'n Spice VoxBox!

This past month I got my first box from Influenster in the mail and I was so excited to open it and see all the goodies I would get to try and review for Free! Yep, for free!  I received the Influenster Sugar and Spice VoxBox and it had full sized samples of fun products.

Yes I did receive this for free but that will not sway my opinion so don't worry these are my honest thoughts.

The first one I tried was the BelVita Breakfast biscuits that I quickly ate (devoured actually) because they were so good (Honestly just smell them and wow) and full of cinnamon! Little did I know yet that they are a healthy plus.
Then there was the Nectresse sweetener which came in very handy.

Dickinsons Oil controlling towelettes are amazing! Try them (but watch out for the smell) out and you will forever be changed in how you clean your face.
The Vaseline Spray and Go was a lot of fun to try and my whole family loved! It will come even handier during beach weather here in Texas.

Colgate, this was an easy one to try because Colgate is already a trusted brand in our house.
I Hope I get to try out another Box soon! These products have been awesome to get to try out and enjoy with my family. If your interested in Influenster check it out here.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Project 52: Week 17

This past week life was a bit sweeter and we tried finding happiness here at home. My dad still has to see the doctor 3x a week and he cant be putting weight on his foot, but things are getting easier every day. Hopefully soon I can say he is all better. We played outside and even found some creepy caterpillars! I looked them up online and it looks like a PipeVine SwallowTail. Apparently they are poisonous though so we need to watch out with our pets.

We made some scratch Art (can you tell my munchkin made Sponge Bob and Patrick?) and played with stamps. But the best part of this past week was going out to Seaworld for the final weekend of the Just for Kids Concert series. The imagination Movers were there and the show was amazing!

Hopefully the weeks keep getting better. How was your week?

H-E-B Healthy Family Expo

A couple of weeks ago we headed downtown bright and early to The HEB Healthy Family Expo. We have gone a couple of times in the past years and we always have fun, get lot of goodies and learn something new. This year was a great year to go since my father has been struggling with his diabetes and we always need as much information on diabetes and healthy food choices as we can get. They had the Expo at the Henry B.Gonzalez Convention Center so it was big!
They had sections on food (samples, recipes and cooking demonstrations) , services, products (coupons and samples), and even an area where they were doing health testings. The whole event was Free! They had a kids area where they could play and even get a free brand New book. We played safety Bingo and won a Bike Helmet which turned out to come very handy since it was just the push he needed to learn how to ride his bike.
When we got home we had 4 huge reusable bags full of samples and information/coupons and even lots of fresh fruit (strawberry containers, apples). It was fun to go through and here are some pictures of what we got:
It was a great morning and we always get great samples, coupons and information and I cant wait for the next one. Have you been to The expo? If you have how big was your haul?

Project 52: Week 16 (Catching Up)

I haven't been writing as much as I would like to have been. If your wondering why? Well my dad this year has had a rough time fighting with his diabetes. In January he had a huge wound on his leg that almost cost him his leg. He spent some time in the hospital and got better and his wound recently closed up all the way with lots of care.

Then more recently a wound he had on his foot was looking ugly and finally with enough of nagging my dad came to his senses and off we went to the hospital. Turns out his foot wound already had an infection in the bone and he would need surgery and care to save his foot. This wouldn't be his first foot surgery. Not even 2 yrs before he had a partial amputation of his feet, on one a pinky toe and on the other just a partial side. The situation this time was spooky since both the leg wound and foot wound were on his left side and that's a lot for a body to handle. So this week was mostly spent in the hospital. He had a good surgery and now he is home where he is healing, resting and off his feet.

Well it doesn't end there though... this week has been a tough one mentally for me. It makes me sad and hurt inside and worries me in ways I cant even write. While all the worries of my father were happening I would take breaks and look at the tv in the waiting room and the images in front of my eyes only brought more tears. When the tv should have been a distraction it only brought more worry and fear. Our country was in mourning and my heart couldn't stand it anymore. Inside me there was too much pain...

I cant get the thought out of my mind... What if I get diabetes? (The doctor told me having one parent with diabetes ups your risk to 40%) The fear of my life taking that path has been like a dark shadow on me this week. Is this my future? How could I put my child through what Im going through right now with my dad? Its all too much. Its a struggle. Its even been the reason of a nightmare this week that woke me up screaming at the top of my lungs.

So I know I should be sharing pictures of my week but guess what? I have no pictures of my sadness, of the hospital of my dad or my fears. I only have my words to share and I hope thats enough for now.

Sorry to be a dark cloud but all this is stirring in me and for fear of exploding one day from holding it all in I share it here. I need suggestions/advice/tips/recipes/links anything you can think of to help me and my family with our journey with my dads diabetes. Thank you guys in advance

Happiness is... (Week 7)

Happiness is... my munchkin finally wanting to learn to ride a bike! Its very exciting to see him so enthusiastic about it. Every day for the past 3 days now all I hear from him is "please lets go outside to ride bike...please" Wish Him luck!
Happiness is... bringing out all the Cascarones that were left over from Easter and having a confetti fight outside regardless of the date. (To be honest I was kinda saving them for Fiesta since we didn't use them all on Easter, but now were going to need some more for Fiesta)
Happiness is... Kittens! Did I mention that on Easter we were blessed with the birth of 4 adorable kittens? My munchkin is obsessed with them and there baby meows! I would like to think that my sweet Gilbert was reincarnated in one of them.

Happiness is... Free goodies! Like the ones we got at The HEB Healthy family Expo this past weekend including my munchkins new bike helmet. This is nothing compared to how much we brought home (includes tooth brushes, crayon packs, coloring books, pads, tampons, snacks of all sorts, pill containers, tooth paste, and even fresh fruit)
Happiness is... seeing people walk/race for a cause that should be dear to every person in this world... man or women.
Happiness is... my latest craft on Gummy Lump. I made a DIY Pretend Garden with Munchkin and since it came out last Thursday it has only been met with kind words and I really appreciate everyone who has checked it out and g+ and pinned it. Thank you for your support!

Project 52: Week 14

We finally did get more out of the house this past week.

We went downtown Saturday morning and caught a glimpse of The Komen race for the cure. We then went to The HEB Healthy Family Expo and it was fun getting all the freebies and full sized samples (some small ones too), plenty of coupons and even a kids zone where my munchkin played safety bingo and won a bike helmet. Its great actually because he never wanted to try riding his bike, but as soon as we got home thats all he kept asking me to do.

Sadly I twisted my foot Saturday afternoon and could barely walk on it so no bike riding that day. By Sunday it did feel a lot better but I ended up missing Siclovia! I was upset because I knew I had to rest my foot (especially to keep up with my kiddo) but I really had wanted to go. Now I have to wait for the next Siclovia.

Did you miss my latest craft on Gummy Lump? Its a DIY Pretend Garden. Munchkin had a lot of fun with this one! We made flowers, garden markers, seed packets, a caterpillar, butterfly and even a bee. Its a fun way to get your kiddo involved with plants and even an opportunity to learn about plant growth and the life cycle of a caterpillar. So be sure to check it out!

How was your week? Are you doing a Project 52?

Happiness Is... (Week 6)

Happiness Is... Remembering all the beautiful times you shared with your pet and knowing that although they are no longer with you, they will always be a part of your Heart.
Happiness Is... Family! Having my family all together this past Easter weekend was amazing fun!
Happiness Is... That cozy feeling you get bundled in your blanket while theres a huge storm outside and its chilly. I love the sound of rain against my window, but especially the smell of rain!

Happiness Is... Having a new Craft come out in a couple of hours at Gummy Lump. (Hint: Hope you saved some of your Easter grass)

New hair Thanks to Garnier Olia! (Review)

I am very lucky to have been asked By Bzz to try out Garnier Olia because it was just the push I needed to get my hair in order. All of these thoughts are my own drawn from my own experience with this product that I received for free to facilitate this review.

I have a mommy confession: I have grey hair! Yep... I am 28 yrs old and about a year ago my hair started to grey. I should have known it was coming. My mom grayed early and even my brother and sister have grey hair and they are younger than me. Its just become a part of life and I tried hiding it. I use to dye my hair pretty often before my son came along (just for fun) but after it wasn't as much a priority and I even worried about the chemicals and the smell and how they could affect my son.

But now that my sons getting older and mommy realizes she has to take care of herself, dying my hair seemed like a push in the right direction. It was fun shopping for colors in the store (Bzz provided me with a Free hair color coupon so I could pick it out myself at the store).

I found one that wasn't too drastic a change (for now) and tried it that night. I opened up the package and it was all set up nice and neat. Little bottles all labeled with numbers to help you out in the instruction steps. They had a cute container where you were suppose to mix items together and shake before you put it on your hair. To help us out it even comes with super cute black gloves.

After a good 30 minutes in your hair and a quick rinse you add in the conditioner and Bam! New Hair! New color!

It smelled so good (kinda like flowers) when the dye was in my hair. I didn't get a headache (which most times I usually did from the chemicals and smell from hair dye). The coverage of the hair color was pretty good and I was right and the hair color wasn't too strong of a change but just enough to give me a confidence boost with my grays gone.

It was fun to change up my look a little and get pushed in the right direction to start taking care of me more right now. I recommend this product to those who might be looking for a new hair color at home. Lets see what changes come next in small pushes.

Disclosure: I am a Bzz Agent and was given Garnier Olia Free to Review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Your experience may vary from mine.

Project 52: Week 13

This past week was a tough one. Thursday early morning we lost our cat Gilbert. She was killed by dogs outside our yard and we got there too late. I am beyond heartbroken and so is my family. Its been nonstop crying for days. I dont think my heart will ever heal properly from her loss because she was in our lives over 15 years. Thats forever! She was more than a pet to us, she was family... a best friend.

When we were little kids she was so much fun and happy, full of life. She was a fighter. One day walking home I saw a little lump on the road and it seemed familiar... it was her. She had been run over and there was blood everywhere and I carried her home. We cleaned her and cared for and prayed she wouldnt die. She slowly but surely regained strength after a couple days and even though she forever had a scar on her face and lost her tail she was Beautiful and a survivor.

Now here with me as an adult she was comfort to me during the hard times in my pregnancy. She would lay next to my belly and magically make the pain go away. Since my son was born she has only ever been sweet to him. She would lay next to him while he slept and never once scratched him or hurt him. She was a great pet to have. A pet that will be deeply missed and forever cherished and loved in our family.

And I know that up in Heaven by Gods side she is watching over us and being a good Girl. We will one day be together again and until then she will always be a part of my heart.
