Dollar Store Halloween Fun

This week we went to a dollar store over by southpark mall and had so much fun looking around. We hadn't been to that specific one in years! We went because we were on a hunt for Halloween items to add to our collection because we are major Halloween lovers on the search for a good bargain. We found lots of glow in the dark items and cute kid items too. Here's a look at what we brought home.

glow in the dark hands with posts so you can make it look like something is crawling out of the dirt

Glow in the dark spiders for our spooky spider web!

Glow in the dark posts that link up to make a fence/border for your area.

cute little Halloween themed bowls that were using for cereal.

In addition to that I found a dry erase board with the alphabet on it to practice writing your letters using the lines for munchkins alphabet adventure. I even found this awesome coloring book that is made from 100 % recycled paper (which is always a plus) . It has lots of activities inside and it makes me want to sit down and color by myself.

We had fun shopping and I wish we could go check out more dollar stores since theres such a variety of them. Who knows what else we might find. Have you started decorating your house for Halloween? or maybe still shopping?

Thrift Store Shopping Trip

This week we went to the Texas thrift store looking for some deals. It was lots of fun! We found a bunch of fun T-shirts and a whole section of costumes. I will post pics of one we got after its been cleaned so you can see the great find for my munchkin. Like always we looked through the kids books. I am always trying to add more books to his at home library and we love the Little critters series so I was excited when I found this stash! They were 25 cents each and the bigger one 50 cents. I took them home and have been reading them to munchkin for bed this week. He loves them.

I also found a book that has always been very dear to my heart and now even more so as I am a mom. The book is "I love you Forever" by Robert Munsch. If you haven't read it go to the library or book store and check it out. Its amazing and will put a tear in any moms eye. I read it when I was little and loved it and then read it again this week and teared up because the love that book shows is priceless. Trust me when I say its a good read. I don't want to spoil the book for you by telling you about it except that it shows the love all moms have for there sons. Best part is that I got it for only 75 cents!

Lately my son is into puzzles and he's really good at them. So wherever I go I'm on the lookout for puzzles. I found one at the thrift store and they tape them up so the pieces wont fall out and you wish and hope theres all the pieces in there because it doesn't tell you how complete they are. I took my chances and brought it home for 99cents. Its a puzzle from cranium plus and I think its a plus because its not only a puzzle but a seek and find too. It comes with little cards that tell you what to look for. Luckily it had all the puzzle pieces and 28 out of the 30 cards. Not bad really and its huge!

Overall we had a great thrifting time and cant wait to go find some more great deals. Let me know if you find some awesome kids stuff :)

Making a Doctor kit for Munchkin

It all started Sunday morning at 3am when my munchkin woke up throwing up and from then till 9am threw up a total of 5 times! Yep did not sleep hardly a wink that night because in between the throw up on the bed and on me, him crying and washing bedsheets and more there was never a chance to sleep(but that's just a part of the joy of being a mom). Munchkin had a bad fever that day and nothing hurts more than seeing your wildly overactive son just lay around all day wishing he would be up to trouble so that he would be his old self.

He started feeling better Tuesday and in that time I made him a doctor kit. I saw a bunch of pins on pinterest of different doctor kits/play cases to make for your child and I just wanted to make something from items at home. So I grabbed a clear mini briefcase and some empty pill containers (with fake pills made of stickers), medicine dropper samples, and ear cleaners and tongue depressors(Popsicle sticks), band aid containers and a note pad and pen to be able to write prescriptions and work/school excuses. I put Dr. Lopez on the box with stickers and I put a ruler sticker and more on the outside to add some special touches on front and back.

I ended up adding more stuff as the week went on and He loved it! Munchkin was doing checkups on everyone and asking if we were sick so he could check us out. It was so cute! And I felt special because I made it :)

You can make your own doctor/kit case using things from home too. Just use your imagination and your child will have lots of fun! By the way I ended up getting sick too and it was not fun but I had a good at home doctor to take care of me  ;)
