Dinosaur Day at The Central Library

Friday morning we woke up bright and early to go to Dinosaur Day at The Central Library (A Free Event). We walked along the San Antonio Riverwalk to catch a trolley to the Library. We could see all the lights hanging from the trees and cant wait for them to be all turned on during the Christmas season.
We got to the library and I love the renovations they did with the grassy area and the nice outdoor reading nook(that's what I would use it for on a nice day).

On the children's floor everything was dinosaur from the signs on the walls to the books on top of the shelves. It was fun to discover what was behind every turn.

Yes I did dress my munchkin in dinosaur apparel. Isn't he adorable?
They started off the class with a song and then a game of dinosaur behind the door(like ants in the pants). Then We read a book about dinosaurs. We then went on to do centers all with dinosaur themes. Here's a glimpse of the activities:
Dinosaur Crafts

Dinosaur books and magnets
Playdough to make dinosaur prints in
Hugging the dinosaur inflatable(there was inflatable Dinos and stuffed ones)
Different dinosaur footprints
Sensory tubs that consisted of Dino's, bird seed, rice, beans, flowers and extras

Take Home information and cut outs
It was a great experience and fun for the kids. There were more activities like pattern matching and blocks and magnets. My munchkin really enjoyed it and so did the other kids. They got to play and learn about dinosaurs and I cant wait for another event like this. If you want to see what other activities and events are happening at the library go to www.mysapl.org and check it out!

If you have munchkins super interested in dinosaurs then you need to check out The Botanical Garden where right now they are having Dinosaur Stampede and with your library card you get a discount on admission. You can check out our Visit to the Botanical Garden here.

  2. this looks like a great time! we are on the Northwest side so don't get downtown very often, but we always love the offerings at the different library branches.
